Trade in Islam

Q- I want to ask if I buy something for 200 and sell it for 400 (because I need money) and do business that way, Is it halaal?

A- This is called trade in Islam and is the most common form of transaction that we see in the market since the time of Prophet ﷺ. There is no specific limit to profit according to shari’ah. So it is permissible for the one who buys an item and sells it for double the price, on condition that he does not take advantage of the purchaser’s heedlessness or ignorance of prices and the product sold is itself halal and not harmful for anyone. Also in case there’s some defect or problem in the product then it should be pointed out before finalizing the deal otherwise the blessings in transactions would be gone. Similarly selling replica products at the price of the original product comes under deception and should be taken care of.
